Swim Lessons

Chad started swim lessons again about three weeks ago.  We are going to the same teacher as last year doing the ISR program.  Chad needed very little refresher (he remembered how to float) and quickly moved on to swimming.  It is absolutely amazing!   He is doing such a good job and is a great little swimmer.   He will start to swim (he uses mainly his feet to kick and his arms to float) and then he will get tired so he will roll over to his float, catch his breath and then roll over again and start to swim.  He will repeat this process until he gets to where he needs to be – whether that is the edge of the pool, stairs, or person he is swimming to.  He also knows hand signals which tell him to do certain things in the water.  Occasionally, he will do quick little roll overs and she calls those problem solving turns.  What that means is he will do a quick roll over to assess how far he is from his destination and what he needs to do in order to get to that destination.  He typically swims for about 4-6 seconds before turning over to his float.  But, he will push it at the first swim and last swim.

I told Craig earlier today, here is what I have learned from this whole swimming lesson experience – besides that fact that my child is a natural swimmer.  :)  If your child has a little ability, if you find the right coach for your child, and as a parent if you are willing to put in the time, energy and money, your child will most likely excel at anything.

So, here it is, Chad swimming.  It is not the best video or his best performance but you get the idea!
