We started the 3-day potty training method on Friday. To give you the short version of what this program entails, it is 3 days of staying by your child, recognizing the signs of them going potty and constantly repeating over and over and over again, “Make sure you tell Mommy/Daddy when you have to go potty.” In hopes at the end of the 3 days he will begin to tell you he has to go potty.
We have had about 4 other friends from playgroup who have used this method. One little boy started telling his folks after an hour (same age as Chad), it took one boy all 3 days (a little older than Chad) and one girl it took 5 days.
So, how did it go? Well, let’s just say that you always want your weekends to go by slowly. This was the slowest. most. agonizing. weekend. EVER. At the end of 3 days, we have made progress but Chad is still not telling us all the time when he needs to go potty.
But, we are not looking back. We are not going back to go back to diapers. Chad has not asked about diapers, he doesn’t mind going to the potty, he doesn’t mind the new underwear. So, I am confident he will get it and it will happen soon!
