Some things you should know about Disney - according to me

1. Everything takes longer - if you think it will take you 20 minutes to get from Point A to Point B - allow for 40 minutes.
2. Always stay at a resort on the monorail but it is always good to have other transportation tricks up your sleeve - car, boat, bus, feet.
3. Don't even think about going to a restaurant without reservations - and make them at least 6 months in advance.
4. Take advantage of extra magic hours - no wait for Splash Mountain (the only ride in my mind that really matters) and you can just stay on the ride as much as you want, over and over again.
5. It can be cold in Florida in December - make sure you bring a hat and gloves just in case.
6. Lost and Found at Disney - Amazing. If you left something at the park (including but not limited to video camera, tag blanket, camera bag, battery charger, memory card reader) just call the next day after 9:00am and tell them where you left it and then the item(s) magically show up at the ticket and transportation center. And, this service can be used at least twice - just sayin.
7. Strollers - You have to bring one but they are a huge pain. In and out, in and out, in and out. You can not bring them into the rides they have stroller parking. But, you can leave personal belongings on your stroller - nobody messes with strollers. There is a Disney person "manning" the stroller parking at all times. But, your stroller will never be in the same place as where you left it. And, if you don't park in the designated stroller parking, somehow, magically, your stroller will show up in the designated parking...again, just sayin.
8. Shoes - you will do a ton of walking - make sure you wear comfortable shoes. It might take you at least two visits to figure out which shoes are right for a Disney visit.
9. Body Glide - You will go through at least 2 bottles of it in a 6 day Disney visit.
10. Just because you once owned a boat doesn't mean you will always be able to park a boat in a slip...just sayin.
11. If the weather is cold in Florida (and when I say cold, 40s - 50s) everything shuts down. Rides don't work because it is "too cold" monrail doesn't work because it is "too cold."
12. When you go into Disney, they will do a bag check. But, I am not really sure what they are checking for as I have never seen anything confiscated. And, if it is not in a bag (at the bottom of your stroller for example) it will not be checked. And, Disney shopping bags from stores will never be checked. Apparently if you purchased it at Disney it is A-OK.
